FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Which conditions do you treat? Which conditions do you specialize in? Which conditions/patients do you not treat? How can I assure my privacy in treatment? What is your cancellation policy? What should I bring to my first visit? Which conditions do you treat? As a general adult psychiatrist with years of inpatient experience and training in psychoanalysis, I treat the full spectrum of psychiatric conditions and psychological problems. Some of these are listed below:
Which conditions do you specialize in? I have a special focus in the following areas: Bipolar Disorder, Panic Disorder and Personality Disorders, including Borderline Personality Disorder. Which conditions/patients do you not treat?
I am not a specialist in Substance Abuse or Eating Disorders - both of which require very specific expertise and treatment parameters. However, I do treat people with Substance Abuse or Eating Disorders when these problems arise in the context of another psychiatric disorder. For example, a patient who develops depression, anxiety, or paranoia in the context of Alcohol or Marijuana Abuse or a patient who develops symptoms of Anorexia or Bulimia during an episode of Major Depression. If you are seeking treatment for any of the above problems, please call me to discuss whether I would be the appropriate psychiatrist for you. If not, I will be able to give you a referral to a highly qualified psychiatrist or psychologist who does offer the treatment you need. Monday Ð Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM As a medical doctor trained in psychiatry, I am licensed to prescribe medications and practice psychotherapy, and am board certified in these areas. See credentials for more information. How can I assure my privacy in treatment? This is an important concern in entering treatment. I take great care to ensure that information you share with me is kept confidential. There are important limitations to confidentiality, such as when keeping it would threaten your own or someone else's life. This is described in more detail in my privacy policy. What is your cancellation policy? If for any reason you can not make your scheduled appointment, please notify me as soon as possible. If I am unable to fill your appointment time or we are unable to reschedule for another time that same business week, you will be responsible for the full fee of your session. Since insurance does not reimburse for missed sessions, this fee will include the amount usually reimbursed by insurance. I am not a participating provider in any insurance networks. Depending on your insurance company and the out-of-network benefits it offers, you may be able to submit my bill for partial re-imbursement. I am no longer accepting Medicare patients. My office is located in the Union Square area and easily accessible by L-train and the 4-5-6 train at the Union Square Ð 14th Street stop. Click here for directions. What should I bring to my first visit? Please collect information in the new patient form to bring with you. If you have been in treatment before, you can have your mental health records transferred to me by sending a release of information form to your previous places of treatment.
